FEB AOTM Kaitlyn & Roland

Published February 4, 2015

When Kaitlyn came to CrossFit the first time, she was not "hooked". It took her a month or two later to try it out again to realize, she loved this sport. The best thing to watch Kaitlyn do is shock herself. Everytime she comes in to workout we watch her empower herself and others around her. She has transformed into this AMAZING and fit human being who has an diligent drive and pinpoint focus. She is constantly trying to better herself and that is all we can ask as coaches. We are proud of her and cannot wait to watch her grow into an even more incredible woman.

1. Before crossfit I didn't really workout that much, I was very intimidated when it came to working out. If I did any exercise it would be either using the tredmill or working with a personal trainer once or twice a week.

2. I like to attend 4 WODS a week sometimes I only get 3 in.
3. My favorite exercise is deadlifts!
4. My least favorite exercise are snatches
5. I would tell a newbie to stay focused and motivated! It may seem hard at first but you have to learn to push through the pain! it will pay off in the end and you will learn to embrace being sore.
6. In the next 3 months I hope to accomplish rope climbs and T2B. I also hope to gain more muscle and grow as an athlete.
7. A fun fact about me is I love sushi and sometimes eat it twice a week.
At first Roland didn't want to accept his Athlete of the Month. We wanted to make sure he gets the recognition he deserves. He is encouraging to everyone around him and is a huge help with a lot of athletes here. He has been CrossFitting for so long that his words of wisdom are the reason we keep getting stronger as a GPCF family. His organizational skills are the real reason we keep him around though.....(the guy is always cleaning and organizing the equipment). We admire his strive for more...especially since Roland mentioned today that he has PRed all of his lifts on PR days at the box. Most of all Roland knows how to make anyone laugh, and we thank him for the joy he brings when he walks throught the doors.

1.What was your exercise regime before CrossFit?

Before Crossfit I was barely really was working out. I would go to a global gym like Metro or Retro but nothing really kept my interest or helped me enough to want to stay.

2.How many WODs per week do you attend?

I try to get to at least 4 WODs if not 5 or 6.

3.Favorite CrossFit exercise?

I would have to say my favorite exercise is probably hang cleans they are relatively easy for me.

4.Least favorite exercise?

Thruster... Enough said

5.What would you tell a newbie getting started that helped you?

To stay humble and understand that while you are seeing a lot of gains right now, when that starts to fall off to keep pushing and eventually new ones will come with time don't get discouraged.

6.What would you like to accomplish in the next 3 months?

I would like to get my diet back under good control.

7.What is a fun fact about you?

Umm... I'm awesome!!! Duh!
